ABOUT ME
MY STORY
My journey into construction began at Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in Torrington, Connecticut, where I studied carpentry and developed a passion for building.
After graduation, I worked for a general contractor and learned the fundamentals of residential construction before joining the United States Army in 2001 as a Military Police soldier.
I deployed to Iraq from 2003–2004 and later joined the United States Air Force, deploying again to Iraq from 2007–2008.
The military taught me lessons that continue to influence every aspect of how we run Fine Home Contracting today:
- Planning matters.
- Communication matters.
- Accountability matters.
- Attention to detail matters.
- Teams perform best when expectations are clear.
Between deployments and after returning home, I worked as a finish carpenter while earning a degree in Business Management. In 2012, I founded Fine Home Contracting with a simple goal:
To raise the standard of remodeling by combining exceptional craftsmanship with exceptional client experience.
Over the years, I noticed many contractors focused primarily on construction while overlooking the homeowner experience. Projects suffered from poor communication, unrealistic expectations, inadequate planning, and lack of organization.
I believed homeowners deserved better.
That belief became the foundation of Fine Home Contracting.
MORE THAN A HOME
MY PHILOSOPHY ON HOME DESIGN
I believe your home should be more than a place where you live. It should be your sanctuary.
A home should create peace. It should be a place where memories are made, where families gather, where you can recharge from the demands of everyday life, and where the environment around you supports the life you want to live.
The spaces we live in affect us more than most people realize. The layout of a room, the flow between spaces, the natural light, the materials we touch every day, and the overall design all influence how we feel and interact with our environment.
A primary bathroom is not simply a bathroom. It is where you begin your day and where you end it. Along with the bedroom, it should evoke peace, comfort, order, and well-being.
A kitchen is not simply a place to prepare meals. It is often the heart of the home. It should encourage family connection, make cooking enjoyable, and create opportunities for people to spend time together.
The best homes have a feeling when you walk through the door.
- They feel intentional.
- They feel comfortable.
- They reflect the people who live there.
That is why I believe the design phase is the most important part of any remodeling project. Before construction begins, we focus on understanding how you live, what matters most to your family, and how your home can better support your lifestyle.
At Fine Home Contracting, we believe you cannot over-plan and you cannot over-communicate. Great remodeling projects happen when thoughtful design, detailed planning, and expert craftsmanship come together to create a home that feels uniquely yours. My goal is not simply to build beautiful spaces. My goal is to help homeowners create homes they genuinely love being in every day.
WHAT I LEARNED
Lessons From 350+ Remodeling Projects
After completing hundreds of remodeling projects throughout Connecticut, a few principles consistently prove true:
1. You Cannot Over-Plan: The best projects are won before construction starts. Detailed planning reduces surprises, delays, and unnecessary costs.
2. Communication Solves Problems Early: Most construction problems begin as communication problems. Clear expectations create better outcomes for everyone involved.
3. The Design Phase Determines Success: The more decisions made before construction begins, the smoother the project will run.
4. Materials Matter: The materials you choose influence not only durability and maintenance but also how your home feels every day.
5. Remodeling Is About Improving Life: Beautiful spaces are important, but the real goal is creating a home that functions better for the people who live there.
6. Quality Is Never an Accident: Quality comes from planning, skilled craftsmanship, attention to detail, and consistent execution.
7. Experience Matters: Every remodeling project presents unique challenges. Experience allows problems to be solved before they become expensive mistakes.
