Simsbury Bathroom Remodel Retrospective
This fully-featured bathroom remodel has all the bells and whistles: Our design starts with a custom, 2 tiered waterfall style vanity. Features here include a hair-drier drawer in the top of the vanity with accompanying in-drawer outlets, and metal storage for curlers and driers. This natural stone is tied throughout the room to create unity: It forms the countertop for the vanity, runs down the side of the vanity through the shower wall to create a waterfall effect, and we even repurposed the leftover stone to create a custom shower niche and shelf.
A bespoke curbless shower enclosure from Oasis combined with the Schluter Waterproofing system makes this not only an aesthetically pleasing shower stall, but a functional one: It’s heated floors are tied throughout the entire room using Schluter’s E-DITRA heating, and controls are strategically placed out of the path of the shower head for greater access.
Finally tying the room together is a unique standing tub, with the homeowners opting for a half-wall separation for the toilet rather than a water closet to keep the room feeling open, spacious, and well-lit. A unique, repurposed door from Yale University adds a historic touch and separates the bathroom from a new, adjacent closet.
